Dinagyang 2020: Ilonggo Culture at its Absolute Best
Dinagyang 2020 — Known for its impressive display of choreography, striking costumes, and raising the banner of Ilonggo culture high, the Ilonggo festival has once again succeeded at gathering people across the province, the nation, and even the world.
The official theme of Dinagyang 2020 being, “Perfect Vision: Celebrating the Ilonggo Spirit in Honor of Senior Sto. Niño.”
The grandiose celebration was a hallmark once again, to Ilonggo pride and joy. (And of course, this piece of news is something Iloilo Blog can’t pass up).
We’ve got you covered with a 5-hour long coverage from Choose Philippines
Tribu Paghidaet Wins Dinagyang 2020!
After hours upon hours of rigorous training and practices, yesterday’s competition during Dinagyang 2020 came out with a new champion.
And it’s none other than Tribu Paghidaet of La Paz National High School.
The tribe bested seven other competitors in yesterday’s “Dinagyang 360°” ati tribes competition, taking home the Php 1 million cash prize.
Tribu Paghidaet is actually a returning champion, having previously won first prize five times in years 2010, 2009, 2008, 2003, and 2002. And what’s even more impressive is that they were last year’s first-runner up.
Dinagyang 2020 saw them dethrone defending champion Tribu Ilonganon of Jalandoni Memorial National High School.
Apart from snagging the 1st-place win, Tribu Paghidaet also bagged six of eight minor awards yesterday too: Best in Performance, Best in Choreography, Best in Music, People’s Choice Award (Social Media), Best in Production Design, and Best in Discipline.
Witness their world-class performance all over again, as they ‘wowed’ the crowd and the judges.
The province of Iloilo has always been popular for its rich culture and its many leisure places. But there’s still so much to see and learn; a plethora of interesting things about Iloilo that even you probably don’t know yet.
And for the first-time visitors to Iloilo, Dinagyang 2020 is just the beginning…
