Malangabang Island – Concepcion’s Beach of Corals
Concepcion, Iloilo always amazes visitors and tourists with white sand beaches. It has been a goal of this municipality to maintain and preserve all those islands and beaches. And as a reward for those who wanted another sea escapade, let me offer you – Malangabang Island.
As you approached the island, you would probably be delighted with its corals under crystal clear water. Malangabang is the most populated island among the rest of Concepcion islands and just near to Agho Island. It has a rich marine life that serves as the residents’ main livelihood. What is one of their pride? – Dried Fish! They really have a good and tasty dried fish. If you’re a seafood lover, Malangabang provides varieties of seafood either fresh or dried. Also, if you have a seafood restaurant, the island is just perfect for your fresh seafood supplies.
5 years ago, the island was devastated by Typhoon Yolanda. Many houses were destroyed and even the boats were damaged considering that fishing is the island’s main source of income. But, a year after nature brought back its form genuinely.
Aside from all the seafood, Malangabang also showcases a jaw-dropping spot of sunset. Scattered along beach sides, there are rock formations perfect for a photo shoot. The island is known to be an Island of Corals because during low tides bits and pieces of corals are found along the shore.
