It’s official. It’s gone down in history! The Ultra Lotto 6/58 jackpot has exceeded the Php 1 billion mark — the highest lotto winning in PCSO history.
With Php 1,026,264,340.00 at stake, every bettor is excited, thrilled, anxious — and every other anticipatory word you can possibly think of. And honestly, who wouldn’t be? Not only did it happen for the first time in history, but the amount of money on the line for the jackpot win also has the rest of us reeling.
Ultra Lotto 6/58 Jackpot Winnings
The biggest jackpot recorded in the history of PCSO was the Php 741-million prize in the Grand Lotto 6/55. A lone bettor from Olongapo City, Zambales took the then-jackpot home back on November 29, 2010.
Earlier this year, in February — to be precise, news outlets reported two bettors sharing the win for the Ultra Lotto 6/58 jackpot. The grand total was Php 331,971,464.00. And in September last year, two winners also shared the Php 256.8-million Ultra Lotto 6/58 jackpot win.
And of course, one of our own — an Ilonggo — also managed to win the Php 53,449,633.00 jackpot prize for the 6/55 Grand Lotto just this September 26.
You never truly know until you take a chance, do you? And these lucky winners are more than enough proof that winning purely on luck is perfectly possible.
The Biggest Jackpot
“This P1-billion jackpot prize is historic for the PCSO. Bettors are excited. Everyone wants to win. Whoever wins this prize will be the first-ever PCSO billionaire,” PCSO General Manager Alexander Balutan told Manila Standard.
The PCSO General Manager never said it better, not to mention, he hit the nail on the head. People from all walks of life are flocking to Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Offices to buy lottery tickets, hoping against all odds that they would be deemed the first-ever “PCSO billionaire.” Even executive members of the Philippine government aren’t exempt (you know who).
As the days progress where this 1 billion Ultra Lotto 6/58 jackpot hasn’t found a home in someone’s bank account, the lines to obtain lottery tickets will just keep getting longer. The lottery tickets themselves are running out fast, and with this absurd amount of cash on the line, who could blame every bettor, honestly?
Balutan even threw in a word of precaution for every bettor taking a stab at winning the Ultra Lotto 6/58 jackpot: “Whoever holds the winning ticket is the winner. So sign your winning lottery ticket immediately and take extra precautions. If you can take a photo and video of yourself with the winning ticket, do it. But don’t post it publicly for security reasons.”
While nobody’s won, the chances for winning are wide open. Even the PCSO hasn’t shied away from expressing that the chances for winning the grand prize were slim. A one in a 40 million chance, to be exact.
Nevertheless, a lucky win is still a win. So grab that opportunity while it lasts. Fortune is a fickle mistress, but who knows? You just might sway her inadvertently to your side.
